Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Officer or HR Assistant looking for their next career opportunity to join our HR team.

Working closely with the HR Manager, the HR Officer will play a critical role in supporting a full range of HR activities, from recruitment to employee relations and policy updating and development etc. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a real passion for all things HR! 

About You

The successful candidate will have a HR generalist background ideally within the legal or professional services sector.

You will have a comprehensive understanding of HR practices, employment laws and HR compliance.  You will genuinely care about people and will be able to demonstrate how you have balanced employee needs with business goals along with:

  • Good HR generalist experience with some experience of complex ER case work (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong IT, numeracy, literacy skills and good business awareness
  • An excellent work ethic with a curiosity to learn and a commitment to deliver results
  • Being adaptable and flexible with the ability to adjust to new situations quickly and manage change effectively and positively
  • A meticulous attention to detail ensuring accurate information is always presented 
  • The ability to think critically and identify solutions when solving problems, able to consider the bigger picture in all situations and analyse information
  • Versatile, being able to juggle multiple tasks with excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Able to foster positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Exhibiting an ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, strong written and verbal communication skills

About the Role

The HR Officer will play a pivotal role in the provision of HR support within the business.  It is a varied role that encompasses all aspects of the employee lifecycle including but not limited to:

  • Personnel administration - ensuring accurate employee records are maintained and matters such as holiday and sickness are recorded accurately, contracts of employment are updated and HR databases are kept up to date. 
  • Assisting with the recruitment and selection of new employees, updating job descriptions, salary benchmarking, preparing job adverts, liaising with agencies, co-ordinating interviews, and the drafting and issuing of contracts of employment.
  • Facilitate new starter inductions and new starter training to ensure a smooth integration of new staff into the business.
  • Overseeing the probation process, ensuring reviews are carried out in a timely manner and performance is meeting expectations.
  • Supporting the Company's early career provision for school leavers and university students. Arranging work experience and co-ordinating trainee's mid-seat and end-of-seat reviews in addition to supporting the recruitment of new trainees into the business.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees and managers, addressing inquiries and resolving concerns related to the workplace, benefits, payroll and HR policies and procedures etc.
  • Contributing to the updating and the development of HR policies and procedures and letter template, keeping abreast of employment law changes and their impact on the business/employees.
  • Assisting with monthly payroll and the administration of staff benefits.
  • Co-ordinating the staff appraisal process, organising annual reviews, and the issuing of appraisal documentation etc.
  • Taking a lead role in the employee suggestion scheme from reviewing suggestions, providing feedback to implementation.
  • Processing leavers from the business, conducting exit interviews etc.
