The team has a strong and growing commercial client base, in large part due to its commitment and development of its innovative services, Birkett Long Human Resources or BLHR. Commercial clients benefit from a comprehensive mix of HR services and employment law support to existing and new commercial clients.
The team also has a strong reputation for of advising and supporting private individuals.
The team consists of an experienced Partner, 3 Solicitors and a dedicated HR Adviser and Support team.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced employment law Solicitor to join our BLHR and Employment Team . The role is proposed to be full time although other options will be considered and will be based in Birkett Long’s Colchester or Chelmsford office, however the successful candidate will be required to attend our Colchester, Chelmsford and Basildon offices regularly. The ability to drive and access to a car would therefore be an advantage.
The role will involve supporting and advising both commercial and private clients as well as marketing and business development activities, including presentations and articles, to help to grow the client base and strengthen the team. The successful candidate must be flexible enough to work outside normal office hours when required.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years post qualified experience of working within an Employment Law environment. You will be able to work individually and unsupervised but also effectively with other team members. Supervisory skills of less experienced colleagues would be an advantage.
You will have proven experience of handling a caseload and the ability to deliver succinct high quality advice, excellent client and team communication skills, drafting and negotiation skills and a desire to play a key role in the future development of the team.
Knowledge of a case management system and Microsoft Office software skills are essential.
