Job Description

We are looking for an experienced candidate to join our team on a fixed term contract to cover the role of Head of Marketing & Business Development during maternity leave.

This strategic role leads a small but mighty team to deliver the business development and marketing strategy across the firm, demonstrating our approachability, our knowledge and our excellent client care.

The Role

Reporting to the Managing Partner, the Interim Head of Business Development and Marketing is responsible for:

- Championing the company’s culture, behaviours and values.

- Leading and mentoring the Business Development and Marketing team, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment that delivers results

- Executing our progressive marketing & BD plans to promote the firm's services, enhance brand visibility, and attract new clients including:

- Managing the firm’s digital footprint:

- Overseeing the creation of compelling and relevant content for the firm's website, social media platforms and other digital channels.

- Managing website development and maintenance sprints.

- Managing PPC and SEO strategies to increase online presence and drive traffic to the firm's website, with the aim of securing enquiries/ instructions.

- Organising and participating in industry events, conferences, and seminars to showcase the firm's expertise.

- External communications: Event management, PR & publicity, lead generation campaigns, copywriting

- Internal communications: Oversight and development of our engaging internal communications plan, supporting the delivery of our staff events and output of the Staff Experience Group.

- Facilitating networking opportunities for lawyers and key stakeholders to expand the firm's professional connections.

- Overseeing the firm’s legal directory submissions process.

- Preparing regular reports on key performance metrics that analyse the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives, using data-driven insights to present findings and recommendations to senior management and legal teams.

- Manage the Client Experience Group

- Delivering and progressing the Client Experience plan, including working closely with external third-party suppliers to assess, monitor and report on performance.

- Collaborating with team leaders and the complaints handling process to address client feedback promptly and consistently. Extracting valuable lessons from these experiences to enhance client service, contributing to continuous improvement in policies and processes.


Skills and Attributes


- Degree or similar qualification in a Marketing or Business-related subject.

- Significant experience in marketing and business development roles within legal/ professional services

- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies in a legal context.

- Numerically and financially literate, comfortable working with metrics and budget management

- Strong understanding of digital marketing techniques, including SEO, and social media marketing.

- Solid knowledge of website analytics tools.

- Exceptional communication, negotiation and networking skills.

- Leadership skills with proven experience of leading, delegating, supporting and mentoring teams.

- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.

- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively, and helping those you line-manage to do so too.

- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

- Excellent IT skills.

- A progressive approach to problem solving.
