HR Adviser

Job Description

Our HR team is growing and we're looking for a HR Adviser who believes that how you do things matters just as much as what you do.

This role is for someone with a strong sense of integrity, who thrives on collaboration, and genuinely enjoys supporting people to do their best work. You'll be a trusted, approachable voice for managers and employees alike - someone who brings clarity, fairness, and calmness to each situation.

You'll be joining us at an exciting time of change and development.  You'll work closely with the HR Manager and directors to deliver effective people solutions that align with employment legislation, company policies and procedures and our organisational values.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing first-line HR advice to directors, managers and employees, providing clear, confident advice on all matters
  • Coaching and guiding managers to ensure consistent, fair, and legally compliant decision-making
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Contributing to HR projects, initiatives, and continuous improvement activities to strengthen engagement, capability, and culture
  • Championing a positive working environment by embedding organisational values into everyday behaviours, interactions, and decisions
  • Supporting payroll and staff benefit administration
  • Supporting end-to-end recruitment activity, including advising managers, drafting job adverts, shortlisting, and supporting a fair and inclusive selection process
  • Horizon scanning for emerging risks, trends, changes in legislation, and HR best practice
  • Identifying developing, and delivering HR training for managers and employees, including topics such as people management, employment law awareness, and probation and supervision reviews etc.
  • Contributing to the development of learning materials and support ongoing development initiatives.

What you'll bring:

  • CIPD level 5 or 7 qualified with solid advisory experience in the legal industry or another professional service industry
  • A people-centred mindset, balancing empathy with consistency and professionalism
  • The confidence to build credible, respectful relationships at all levels
  • Sound judgement, discretion, and a natural sense of fairness
  • A genuine passion for people and doing the right thing
  • A genuine commitment to continuous improvement and a positive workplace culture
  • Emotional intelligence and self-awareness, especially in challenging or complex situations  
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to analyse situations, ask the right questions, and offer balanced, well-reasoned advice
  • Experience of working in the legal sector or professional services in a similar role
