Commercial Property Lawyer

Job Description

Looking to join a close knit team where you can broaden your Commercial Property experience, work on high quality cases in a supportive, friendly and highly collaborative environment?  Expanding our current team of 12 Commercial Property lawyers,  we have an opportunity for a lawyer with around two years Commercial Property experience to help strengthen the team and play an active role in its future.

The role

This is one of two vacancies in our Commercial Property team at our Clifton Moor office.  Due to continued growth, the role will be to assist  our Head of Property, Stephen Proctor.  Stephen deals with a varied caseload  of transactions including agricultural, development, retail, secured landing, minerals and high complexity residential transactions, to name but a few. Having headed up the firm’s Commercial Property team for several years, he inaugurated the firm’s Agricultural Property team. Latterly, having handed over leadership of those teams, he assumed an overarching role as the firm’s Head of Property. He is also focussing on the firm’s property development offering (which is part of CP) while continuing to work across all disciplines where needed. This offers a great opportunity for someone who wants to work on a wide portfolio of work and gain broad experience and have  the future option to either specialise in one of these areas or continue to work as a Property generalist.  Collaboration is a key part to how we work, with partners and senior lawyers readily available to provide support, mentoring and technical guidance.

Typical work includes:

  • Sale and purchase of freehold and leasehold commercial and residential property
  • Land acquisitions and disposals, including conditional contracts
  • Promotion agreements
  • Commercial and residential leases
  • Development work including site acquisitions and disposals, option agreements, overage agreements, planning and infrastructure agreements and plot sales
  • Easements
  • Secured lending
  • Property portfolio financing
