We have an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to embark on a career as a Legal Assistant within our nationally recognised and growing Court of Protection team. The successful candidate will work closely with our professional deputies and solicitors, supporting vulnerable clients with the management of their property and financial affairs.
Full training will be provided, so prior experience is not essential. We are looking for a confident and organised individual with a compassionate nature, strong communication skills, and a proactive attitude. Given the vulnerable nature of our client group, the successful candidate will be comfortable supporting individuals with diverse and often complex needs.
You will be joining a supportive and collaborative team dedicated to delivering a high quality, client-focused service, making a meaningful difference to the lives of our clients and their families.
This is an excellent opportunity for a law graduate or someone with transferable experience looking to develop their career within a supportive and specialist legal team. This role is available on a full-time basis, although part-time applications will also be considered.
About the Role
You will work closely with our Court of Protection specialists, providing administrative and legal support across a varied caseload. Responsibilities will include:
· Assisting with applications to the COP to appoint both lay and professional deputies
· General financial administration including arranging payment of invoices and utility bills
· Liaising with families, care professionals, case managers and financial advisors
· Ensuring clients receive all state benefits available to them
· Assisting with the sale and purchase of properties
· Arranging repairs/adaptations to properties
· Organising and renewing insurance policies
· Financial reconciliation of bank accounts including the preparation of cash flows
· Purchasing everyday items including specialist equipment
· Providing general assistance to directors, solicitors and legal advisors in the team.
